I feel that everytime I come for a spray tan I spend a long time trying to explain why I don't want to buy cream, make up, book in make up or pay for extra tans. I don't think this is the fault of the staff but rather maybe the management pushing for up sales? The reason that I think that is because it happens every single time no matter who I got served by. I have also heard exactly the same questions asked of other clients when waiting for my appointment. I work in a sales environment too so understand the technique but it is getting a bit off putting when using your salon. The last time I came in for a spray tan I was happy to book in another tan for a wedding I have in Melbourne and said twice in the conversation that the wedding was in Melb - the person then asked me if I wanted to have my make up done for the wedding suggesting that she hadn't actually listened to the conversation and was more worried about upselling. Perhaps management need to think about other techniques to get their clients back for business - maybe loyalty cards or a points system. I would think that would work a lot better for many of your clients.
